Ocean Blue
is a collection of original songs composed throughout 2018 inspired by people and aspects of nature that are meaningful to me. The track "Ocean Blue" was written on the ukelele while over looking the Atlantic ocean on a beach in Florida. "Water" was inspired by Terry Jackson's poem "We Are Water" which depicts the flow and adaptability of this precious element. "Water Snakes" is a tribute to our favorite local swim spot, Lake Pickerel. "Autumn Moon" embodies the many full moon drum circles that I have enjoyed. "Equal Night" is the root translation of equinox. H.O.M.E.S. is a salute to Michigan and the Great Lakes which which I visit as much as possible! "Into the Gloaming" is a paean for the old English word meaning twilight with lyrics written and performed by Emma McDermott. "R is for Richko" is a living tribute to my friend and guitarist Rodney Richko. "Keaton's Blues" written for my pianist Keation Royer.
I am grateful to: the Creator for everything, my wife, Kelly, for her love, support and great playing!, my band who did an unbelievable job at bringing life to these songs, to Terry and Emma for their performances (Emma for her beautiful artwork), Geoff Michael and Jim Kissing who both did wonderful work and graphic designer Joe Judge who is always there for me, Brian Brill for his excellent keyboard parts, and, last but not least, all of you that supported this CD. Thank YOU!
